LUMS Daily Student Presents - CARMA XII for Aspiring Reporters and Media Anchors

Dear students,

We are pleased to share that LUMS University, Lahore is organizing an event of CARMA for Aspiring Reporters and Media Anchors, which will be held virtually from 22nd to the 24th of January 2020 (Given the current global context and associated uncertainty, the event will be held online). CARMA is organized every year by the premiere journalism society at LUMS. It is one of the few platforms that promote journalism in Pakistan & allows students to step into the shoes of media personnel as they take on roles of reporters, investigators, anchors, news analysts, radio jockeys and writers.

CARMA is a three-day international, journalistic convention that seeks to clear perspectives on journalistic norms and offer new avenues to students all over the country to nurture their talents. It allows the participating youth to engage in a wide variety of exercises from all genres of media, whilst interacting with notable professionals, and equipping them with the requisite tools to strengthen their analytical and observational skills, thereby inculcating within them abilities such as brevity, clarity of speech, and appropriate structuring of written expression. By virtue of providing delegates an opportunity to explore the entirety of broadcast, print, and radio journalism, CARMA aims to provide the participants an authentic journalistic experience through and through!

Program Description and Theme:

The theme for the twelfth of CARMA is "CARMA-Glitched". The theme intends to exemplify the concept of a glitch to transliterate, engaging narratives for subsequent journalistic and media sub-events, where the term glitch, will be understood both in its literal context, i.e. an unanticipated technological malfunction, and with metaphorical underpinnings, where the narratives inspired by the disorder depicted in a glitch, would serve as social commentary on culture and politics, and our understanding of technology and control.
