SUSI 2019

Dear students,

We are pleased to share that 2019 SUSI Program for Leaders has been announced. Undergraduate students presently enrolled in first, second and third year are eligible to participate in this summer program. Interested students can complete the attached application form and submit it to IslamabadExchanges@state.gov with a copy to internationaloffice@iba.edu.pk by Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Only emailed applications will be considered for review. While e-mailing the application, kindly use the following format for the subject line: Applicant Name, Name of Institution, City in which you study.

We hope, this year many more IBA students are selected and participate in this summer program. We would love to hear from you once you are shortlisted. Your SUSI application requires you to submit the English Proficiency Letter (EPL) along with the form. Apply for the EPL by sending us an email at internationaloffice@iba.edu.pk. Please apply latest by Sunday, November 25, 2018. All applicants can then collect EPLs from our office (Room 301, 3rd floor, Fauji Foundation) between 12 noon to 02:00 pm from Monday, November 26 to Wednesday 28, 2018.

U.S. mission in Pakistan has announced the Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders 2019 Program Pakistan. SUSI for student leaders is one of the many summer exchange programs that the U.S. Department of State offers.

The program is for currently enrolled undergraduate students. This five-week Institute on Local, State, and Federal Public Policymaking for Student Leaders from Pakistan will be hosted by the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA in the U.S. The program dates will be from late June to early August 2019. It will bring together 30 Pakistani undergraduate students with up to 15 U.S. students to address issues of public policy and democracy in the United States and comparing U.S. policy with that of Pakistan. Entitled Getting Things Done: The Context of Public Policy, the Institute examines questions such as: How do problems get on the public agenda? Who has the power to define a problem and how?

- Pakistani Citizens
- Between 18 and 25 years of age
- Interested in the topic of local, state, and federal public policy-making
- Good Communication Skills
- Currently enrolled in a college or university with at least one semester of study left upon completion of program
- Committed to return to their home country upon completion of the program
- Demonstrate commitment to community and extracurricular university activities
- Have little or no prior study or travel experience in the United States or elsewhere outside of their home country
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and potential in their university and community activities
- Indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States
- Be mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful, and inquisitive
- Be willing and able to fully participate in an intensive academic program, community service, and educational travel.
- Be comfortable with campus life, prepared to share living accommodations, and able to make adjustments to cultural and social practices different from those of their home country.

- Applicants with a dual US/Pakistan Nationality and US permanent residence
- Those who have a parent, spouse, Fiancé who is a US citizen or permanent resident
- Employees of the U.S. mission and their spouse, parent, sibling or Fiancé
- Student in the final year of university
