Heidelberg Laureate Forum 2017 - For CS & Eco-Math Students

Dear Students,

Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) 2017 is an outstanding opportunity for young mathematician and computer scientist students to meet the star scientists in their field: like winners of the Abel Prize, the Turing Award, the ACM Prize in Computing, the Fields Medal or the Nevanlinna Prize.

At this networking event, young researchers spend a week exchanging ideas and opinions with world-famous scientists. The 5th HLF will be held from 24 to 29 September 2017. Young researchers from any nation can apply.

The closing date for applications is 14 February 2017.

Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) 2017
Are you a young mathematician or computer scientist? Do you dream of one day meeting the star scientists in your field? Like winners of the Abel Prize, the Turing Award, the ACM Prize in Computing, the Fields Medal or the Nevanlinna Prize? This is precisely what the Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) offers selected international young mathematicians and computer scientists. At this networking event, young researchers spend a week exchanging ideas and opinions with world-famous scientists. The 5th HLF will be held from 24 to 29 September 2017. Young researchers from any nation can apply. 200 places are available in all, 100 for computer scientists and 100 for mathematicians.

Who can apply?
Requirements for applicants include the following:
 - work as undergraduate, PhD candidate or postdoc in mathematics or computer science

Documents Required:
 - curriculum vitae
 - statement of purpose
 - evidence of awards and other academic achievements (if applicable)
 - letter of recommendation
 - postdocs must additionally submit a short summary of the thesis topic and a list of publications

What form does the HLF take?
The one-week event combines conference elements with a varied supporting programme. There will be lectures given by the laureates and workshops. A lively exchange between young and established scientists is also ensured: during the week-long HLF, the young researchers have a unique opportunity to engage in an intensive exchange with their role models in their respective disciplines and to learn how they became top-level researchers.
