Commonwealth Scholarships for Master's Degree - Papua New Guinea, South Africa, South Pacific and Sri Lanka

  • Dear students,

    We are pleased to announce The Commonwealth Scholarships for low and Middle Income Countries for 2019! The scholarship is designed for students who are willing to pursue their Master's Degree abroad commencing January/February 2019. The scholarship is available in the following countries: Papua New Guinea, South Africa, South Pacific and Sri Lanka.

    The grant will fund the participant's tuition fee, airfare, an arrival allowance and a regular stipend (living allowance).

    Application deadline is Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1700 hours Local Time.

    Scholarship Description:
    These Commonwealth Master's Scholarships allow successful applicants to benefit from the expertise provided by member universities in low and middle income countries around the Commonwealth.

    The scholarships give talented students - who can be from any Commonwealth country other than the host country - the opportunity to gain a Master's degree while developing new skills and experiencing life in another country.

    Number of Scholarships:
    - Papua New Guinea - one scholarship available
    - South Africa - four scholarships available
    - South Pacific - one scholarship available
    - Sri Lanka - two scholarships available

    Target Audience:
    Those willing to pursue their Master's Degree in the field of Arts, Business, Law, Engineering, Agriculture and Sciences.

    Scholarship Coverage:
    - Airfare
    - Tuition Fee
    - Arrival Allowance
    - Regular Stipend (living allowance)

    Eligibility Criteria:
    - Participants must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country, other than the host country.
    - Applicants must hold a Bachelors degree of at least upper second level.

    Requirements:
    - High school certificates
    - Undergraduate transcripts and graduation certificate
    - At least one academic reference
    - Scan of passport or national ID card
    - Proof of English language ability if English is not your first language
    - University offer letter for the course you have applied for (if you already have one)

    Additional Requirement for South Africa:
    A 500-word research proposal summary, containing:
    - Scientific elements of the proposal: research rationale, problem identification, aims and objectives of research, theoretical framework and research methodology
    - Social relevance of proposed study
